American lawyer Montgomery goes to England to try to clear an old friend accused of murder (Ripper). He is unable to find the woman with whom Ripper spent the night of the killing, but with the help of a book of poems, he deduces her identity and her courtroom testimony frees Ripper. Routine crime melodrama with another of the American heroes British audiences seem to like. leave a comment
