Evergreen

In 1909 London, Matthews is a star of the musical stage. On the eve of her marriage to a marquis, her old lover, long thought dead, turns up and demands blackmail. Matthews puts her little daughter in the care of a loyal maid and drops out of sight. Twenty-five years pass and Matthews' daughter auditions for a spot in the chorus line and is spotted by her mother's old understudy. Made up to look older, the young woman is passed off to the public as a "remarkably preserved" Matthews. Complications ensue when she falls in love with a young hoofer who claims to be her son.
