One of several takeoffs on IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT, this mildly amusing program musical is more a pale reflection than an homage. Oddly enough, it gives Miller a chance to display her vocal talents (never her strongest suit) rather than her legs. She plays a famous radio singing star who gets fed up with the fast pace and wants a rest, so she runs away from her money and fame by hiding out in the trunk of a car. The car, of course, belongs to enterprising reporter Wright, who's eager for a good story. The story follows the same sort of complications and mistaken identities of its more esteemed relation. Songs: "Someone to Love," "An Hour Never Passes," "I've Waited a Lifetime," "I'll Remember April" (Jimmy Kennedy, Edward Brandt, Bob Warren, Gene de Paul, Don Raye, Pat Johnston). Sir Lancelot wrote and sang "Vita-Vim Flakes Calypso Song." This same gifted singer/composer later proved colorfully effective as a soulful singer among the doomed prisoners of BRUTE FORCE. leave a comment
