Before director George Pan Cosmatos graced us with his RAMBO: FIRST BLOOD PART II, he collected a bunch of big-name actors to appear in this lame WW II escape adventure. With a cast list that reads more like a "Love Boat" episode than a film, the story follows a group of inmates in a Greek
POW camp run by Moore, a good-guy German who helps the movie stars/POWs escape. They hitch up with a partisan group led by Savalas and attempt to save some ancient Greek treasures from the Nazis. If nothing else, ESCAPE TO ATHENA has a certain (unintentional) camp value.
