Escape To The Sun

Soviet Jews Barkan and Chaplin wish to emigrate but are forbidden to do so by the KGB. In desperation they become involved in a scheme to hijack a jetliner and fly it to freedom, but KGB man Harvey learns of the plot and foils it, capturing all the would-be escapers except Barkan and Chaplin, who flee across the frozen steppes. Barkan dies of an infected wound,and Chaplin is captured by Harvey and taken to face trial. ESCAPE TO THE SUN is a melodramatic, badly acted and directed attempt by Israeli schlockmeister Golan to exploit a serious issue. The presence of some highly talented actors fails to help, as all show an alarming stiffness in every move.
