Parker suspects her fiance, Young, of having an affair with widow Lupino, the mother of an infant son. Actually, Young's brother, Flynn, a poor composer, is taking care of Lupino and the child, and when Flynn goes to explain the matter to Parker, he falls in love with her. He agrees to marry Lupino, however, and plans to sit down and write a ballet inspired by Parker. Soon he leaves Lupino for Parker, and Lupino's baby dies the night his ballet opens. Flynn goes back to Lupino and promises eternal loyalty. Pretty weepy material and not at all Flynn's type of role. An excellent ballet sequence, "Primavera," was written by onetime child prodigy Erich Wolfgang Korngold, who also wrote the arresting score for the film. leave a comment
