This unabashed ripoff of John Carpenter's 1981 action film ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK opens in that handy catch-all era: the near future. Residents of the Bronx are being forced to leave their homes for resettlement camps in New Mexico. It is the dream of Henry Silva, president of a development corporation, to level the area and create an exciting, modern living space. To that end he has hired crews to exterminate whatever human life remains in the ravaged buildings of the Bronx. Meanwhile, in an underground shelter, a group of rebels band together to fight for their home territory: Mark Gregory, a longhaired motorcyclist; Valeria D'Obici, a crusading reporter; and Giancarlo Prete, a hired killer with his small son in tow. The cast, production crew, and plot are almost the same as 1990: THE BRONX WARRIORS, thus making this film a companion piece, a sequel, or a waste of time, depending on your point of view. The acting and plot are laughably awful, as are the film's woefully tame action sequences. (Dubbed in English.) leave a comment
