Hugh Grant signed for this self-consciously quirky period piece before FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL (and something else we've forgotten about) made him an international star. He's a cartographer visiting a WWI-era Welsh village; the inhabitants are a collection of adorable eccentrics a la LOCAL HERO. The love interest is Tara Fitzgerald, who was a well-reviewed Ophelia opposite Ralph Fiennes in a 1995 Broadway Hamlet. leave a comment
