A dismal film directed by the man who did the French silent version of NAPOLEON (1926). Two brothers, one a religious madman (Gance) and the other a scientist (Francen), try to save the world's soul as a comet approaches earth. They preach a fascist-like dogma, which goes unheeded in any
case, because, as the comet relentlessly advances to destroy earth, everyone jumps into orgies. A silly film and one that Gance was fired from after shooting because of the mess. (French; English subtitles, 1934.)
