Mallaby and Waters are brothers, Waters a merchant seaman and Mallaby a wheelchair-confined paraplegic with only a few months to live. Both become suspects in a series of hitchhiker murders in the area, and each seems to be trying to cover up for the other--or diverting suspicion from himself.
