Kerr and Johnson are having an affair in wartime London. When a bomb injures Johnson, Kerr prays for his life, promising God that she will leave her lover and return to her husband if Johnson recovers. Johnson does recover, and Kerr keeps her word, though she endures a long battle with her
conscience to do so. This is tedious and overlong, with Kerr and Johnson totally mismatched.
