Enchanted Island

Andrews and Dubbins are a pair of 19th-century whalers who jump ship on a tropical island inhabited by cannibals. Dubbins apparently is eaten, but Andrews takes up with the chief's daughter, Powell, and avoids a similar fate. They escape the island and return to the ship Andrews had previously left, and captain de Corsia, instead of hanging Andrews as he had threatened, makes him first mate. Powell, however, is harpooned by the enraged tribal medicine man in this mangled adaptation of Herman Melville's Typee.
