This religious message film is built on the question, What if Christ were to come back to Earth as a skid row alcoholic? Set in New York City, EMANON begins with the story of a crippled little rich kid, Jason Ballentine (Jeremy Miller), and his pretty young mother, Molly (Cheryl M. Lynn). Molly and Jeremy have problems as a business rival is trying to sabotage the company left to Molly following the death of her husband. On one of his chauffeured excursions around town, Jeremy meets a kind, thoughtful, nameless alcoholic (Stuart Paul), whom he names "Emanon," or "no name" spelled backwards. Then the miracles begin. EMANON takes a moral stand, one with which some disagree, but a stand nonetheless. The film raises interesting issues about religious divisions and the nature of miracles, but good intentions simply can't carry this project. The scripting is too mindless to be believed and the acting less than convincing. leave a comment
