In 19th-century Sweden, a tightrope performer (Pia Degermark) and an army lieutenant (Thommy Berggren) give up their previous lives--he leaves his wife and children, and she deserts the circus troupe of which she is the top attraction--to find a new freedom for themselves. Their romance

This was a very popular film at the time and--whatever else it did--made Mozart acceptable for the world's teenagers. It's a rather silly love story of two adolescents, but prettily photographed and, although we don't like to admit it, even grownups occasionally like to watch ...
