Claudia Cardinale stars as a nanny for Mobilia and Triulzi. These adorable rich kids have everything they could ask for, except their parents' love. When Cardinale takes the children to the funeral of their uncle, they question her about death, leading her to explain that when someone dies he travels to heaven, a paradise beyond the stars where only love and light exist. Mobilia and Triulzi long to see heaven for themselves, leading to engage in several "experiments" designed to reveal the nature of the paradise Cardinale has described to them. ELECTRIC BLUE raises some interesting questions about how to teach children the meanings of death and heaven. More important, it illustrates that gifts, money, and servants can't fill the need for parental love. Despite their roomful of toys, Mobilia and Triulzi are terribly unhappy and desperate in their search for paradise. Though much of it is obscure, ELECTRIC BLUE is essentially a children's film--though the predominant theme of death makes this a film parents should watch with them. leave a comment
