Lyrical film set in 1895 about an 11-year-old who is sent to his grandmother's house to stay, with his female cousins, for the summer. There he spends his vacation listening and learning about life, enraptured by his grandmother's stories. Tessier is wonderful as the octogenarian
grandmother. A warm-hearted, beautiful film, This was actor Brialy's first directorial-cowriting effort, and an auspicious beginning it was. Actor Charrier also made his debut as producer on this lovely little film.
