Haas is a beggar with his trick-performing dog, Flip. The two are hired to entertain at a wealthy child's birthday party, and Haas is offered $500 for his dog. He won't hear of it; but later, when he can't provide for the dog anymore, Haas sells the dog for $20. The beggar is then beaten
and robbed of his money, and when he learns that his dog has died, he joins Flip in heaven to perform for God.
