Austrian director Dornhelm here tries to capture the desperation and hope of the aspiring young talents who live in Echo Park, a rundown section of Los Angeles. The film centers on Dey, a single mother and would-be actress. Working in a sleazy bar and struggling to make ends meet, Dey runs an ad for a roommate.
