Eagle Squadron

Fast-moving, patriotic WWII air-combat film about a bunch of American volunteers fighting with the RAF before Pearl Harbor. EAGLE SQUADRON chronicles the group's induction into the elite flying corps, their training, their air battles with the Nazi Luftwaffe, their brief romances with British women, and some of their tragic deaths. The splendid aerial photography--much of it documentary material supplied by British authorities--depicts actual combat, with the climactic sequence documenting a raid on the French coast where American pilots hijack a mysterious Nazi plane. Briskly directed, with fine performances from all, particularly Stack, Loder and Hall.
