DRIFTING is an impressive and relatively successful debut feature, made on a shoestring budget of $100,000 and directed by one of Israel's most promising and controversial young directors, Guttman. Sagalle is a young homosexual filmmaker who is trying to get a first feature made and who must work at his eccentric grandmother's grocery store to pay the bills. Because one of his lovers is married, Sagalle spends some evenings cruising for companionship. He is also visited by a former lover--a young woman who isn't aware of his sexual preference.
