Responding to claims that she was wheeled into the OR Monday to get breast implants, The Hills' Heidi Montag tells Us, "What I do to my body is... no one's business but mine." Dreamgirls to Miffed Motown Boss: Our Bad

Did you think Jamie Foxx was playing Motown founder Berry Gordy in Dreamgirls? Me, too. And so did Gordy, apparently. So, to make sure there was no further debate about the matter (and perhaps to preclude the music legend filing a nightmare of a lawsuit over his... er, the unflattering depiction), DreamWorks and Paramount have taken out full-page ads in Variety and the Hollywood Reporter that read, in part, "For any confusion that has resulted from our fictional work, we apologize to Mr. Gordy." Did their ploy work? "I wish [the studios] all the best in the forthcoming Academy Awards," Gordy told the Hollywood Reporter. read more

On Broadway: Will Dreamgirls Return to the Stage?

And I'm telling you, I'm not going... to pay a cent over $150 for tickets, should Dreamgirls return to Broadway, as is being discussed. "We're going to figure out how to do this," composer Henry Krieger tells the New York Post. "We think it's time. All is good." Though it's too soon to discuss details, insiders tell the Post that Jennifer Hudson may be asked to reprise her award-winning film role. Yeah, good luck with that. The Post also says there is talk that Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane might deliver a final encore, starting in May, as The Producers prepares to take its final bow on June 24. "[They] have always had a standing invitation to come back," says a show spokesperson. "They're family." Really? I mean, I knew about Lane, but.... read more

9:38: The presenters are funny tonight. Cate Blanchett handled her bloop well, and Greg Kinnear is so comfortable up there, he could have had a beer in his hand.9:42: Jennifer Hudson is having one hell of a year. Wasn't she just standing in front of Simon Cowell, like, two days ago? Seems like it. Hey, if she can make an entire movie theater applaud a song she's singing on screen, I think that deserves a few awards. (At least that's what happened when I went to see Dreamgirls.) read more

8:41: Apparently there's a lot more to voice-over acting than I knew. 8:43: Marcia Gay Harden's dress is... is... well, Sabrina just said, "I don't want to see that much of her boobs!" I second that. [Shiver] 8:45: A roar explodes for Eddie Murphy's win for supporting actor. "I feel goofy up here 'cause I don't be winnin' stuff." Ha. I'm just glad he's not sporting his Dreamgirls 'do. read more

Jennifer Hudson's Oscar Nom, Hitchcock's House Beautiful and More

Question Having recently seen Dreamgirls and having been blown away by Jennifer Hudsons performance as Effie I was surprised that the recent awards nominations have recognized her in the supporting category rather than the lead category I felt she was more of the lead than Beyonc was as Deena This reminded me of the Oscar nominations for All About Eve when Anne Baxter refused to be in the supporting category and was nominated as lead actress along with Bette Davis Had Jennifer Hudson andor her people pushed for the lead category would the nominations have turned out differently TVAddictFlickChick Whether an actor or actress is considered for a supporting or lead nomination is determined by a films producers they submit performers for Academy Award consideration in specific categories It has been suggested that there would be more integrity if the nominating branch of the Academy decided categories because that would take studio politicking out read more

Dreamgirls Leads Oscar Nods, Yet Snubbed for Best Pic

Nominations for the 79th Annual Academy Awards were announced on Tuesday morning by Salma Hayek — presumably because of the abundance of Latino names that she so deliciously enunciated — and Dreamgirls bested the rest with eight total nods, yet was conspicuously left out of the best-picture race. Babel followed with seven noms.
