Nubile babes abound, but there's no cheesy nudity in this low-rent action film: It's perfect escapism for the genteel video voyeur. Ostensibly a billionaire businessman, archfiend Oliver Maxwell (Ian McShane) springs two super criminals, KGB toxic chemical wizard Vlad (Paul Smith) and IRA bomb expert Murphy (James Remar), to do his bidding. They create an anthrax bomb, which Maxwell points at the USA in hopes that either Uncle Sam or the highest unfriendly bidder will pony up big bucks. Enter the United Nations task force headed by J.W. Garrison (Martin Sheen), who authorizes bon vivant CIA agent Zack Hamilton (Jeff Kaake) to form the D.R.E.A.M. (Dangerous Reconnaissance Emergency Action Mission) Team before Maxwell can sell his brainchild to the extremists responsible for the World Trade Center bombing. Zack scoots down to Maxwell’s neck of the woods — scenic Puerto Rico — and establishes his cover as a beachwear photographer, hiring three fetching beauties — Kim Taylor, (Angie Everhart) Victoria Carrera, (Traci Bingham) and Eva Curoff (Eva Halina) — to spy on Maxwell and pose on the beach. Sure they look good in bikinis, but they also have the smarts to throw a monkey wrench in Maxwell’s plans. Meanwhile, Maxwell and his associate Lena (Traci Lords) kill the now-dispensable Vlad and Murphy rather than pay them, and kidnap Eva. How can Zack, Kim, and Victoria rescue their comrade and stop the firing of Maxwell’s anthrax missile? There’s something dopily entertaining about this hybrid of James Bond adventures and CHARLIES’ANGELS hijinks. With its second-rate techno-gadgets and second string cast, it resembles a Sports Illustrated Swimwear Issue with an espionage theme. leave a comment --Robert Pardi
