Hutton turns in a wonderful performance as a woman who spends her life in daydreams, many of which are amusing and some of which are quite moving. Among the best: Hutton imagines herself as the understudy to a Met opera star who manages to save the show, and as a heartbroken whore who
commits suicide in a cabaret. Other highlights include the various entrances of Abel, as her father, into her dream world as a protective papa and the fantasy musical and dance scenes.
