Dragon's Food

A young Pakistani immigrant (Bhasker) who is seeking political asylum in Hamburg is tossed out of a Chinese restaurant by a waiter (Young) when he attempts to sell roses to the customers. Crestfallen, he trudges back through the dreary, wintry landscape to his room in a state-operated hostel, where he learns that his friend and fellow countryman (Uzzaman) has been denied political asylum and is soon to be deported. Uzzaman instead opts for an illegal and complicated oceanic crossing that will eventually land him in the US. His friend gone, Bhasker finds illegal work in the kitchen of the restaurant from which he was ejected and is befriended by the waiter who threw...
