Dr. Kildare's Wedding Day

1941, Movie, NR, 82 mins

The 9th of the 16 Dr. Kildare films, if you count Paramount's 1937 INTERNES CAN'T TAKE MONEY, the first offical Kildare flick, but not part of the MGM-Ayres series. This one promised a wedding between Ayres's Kildare and Day's winsome nurse-fiancee. MGM was giving the build-up to Day, so they needed her out of the Kildare programmers. You'll see how this misnamed entry worked it all out, with the venerable, crusty, crazy-making Barrymore snapping Ayres out of it, when wedding plans go awry.

Day would occupy a middle rung of stardom through the mid-1940s, specialzing in sweet roles. You might check out KEEP YOUR POWDER DRY, MGM's big WAC movie, watching her and Lana Turner play deep freeze with each other. Later Miss Day would devote herself to the Mormon faith, into which she was born. leave a comment
