Ayres' last film as the title character of this series found him with a new director, W.S. Van Dyke II, and a new leading lady, Ayars. The story deals with a dispute between two rival hospitals. The conflict occurs when an intern, Sterling, brings a glamour girl, Ayars, to his hospital
with a chunk of glass imbedded in her heart. He is fired even though he saves her life, because he found her in the wrong territory. While recovering, Ayars makes a play for Ayres, who is still pining over the loss of his fiancee, Day, who died in DR. KILDARE'S WEDDING DAY. Though many of the
faces have changed, this film still retains much of the established style of the series.
