Will Rogers is perfectly cast as the title character, a small-town doctor who spends his time mending the community's ills. His spare moments are filled by courting the widowed Vera Allen. In this Connecticut setting, director John Ford shows off his acute visual sense, which later was applied to the expansive West. DR.
