Lundigan is an Army officer sent to occupy a South Sea island; his main duty is to keep his men from fraternizing with local women. He tries to set a good example by dating only Greer, the daughter of an American missionary. Problems arise when journalist DeHaven arrives on the island
and falls for Lundigan. He spurns her, and she writes a story saying that the island king has given his daughter, Gaynor, to Lundigan as a gift. This causes trouble in the ranks, and the Army sends an investigative team to the island. A small musical with songs by Harold Arlen and Ralph Blane.
