Plumber Ayres and manicurist Rogers fall in love and plan to marry, but Rogers calls it off when she learns that Ayres plans to spend their honeymoon at Saratoga betting on the horses. Ayres finds it hard to quit his gambling and return to her because he has picked nothing but winners since she left him. His father, Grapewin, tries to warn him, but Ayres refuses to listen.
