Film adapted from the play "The Naked Genius," written by Louise Hovick, the real name of stripper Gypsy Rose Lee, which makes the subject matter understandable. The story tells of a stripper, Blaine, who wants to make it on Broadway. She undergoes "refining" when her boyfriend/manager, O'Keefe, decides that's what she needs to succeed.
