Disc Jockey

1951, Movie, NR, 77 mins

After one of his pals is tempted by a career in television, DJ promoter O'Shea makes a claim that he can pick any unknown singer and transform her into a vocal sensation simply with the aid of radio exposure. The chosen warbler is Simms, who, with the help of 28 radio jocks across the nation, proves the promoter's point. There can be no argument that the script was written just to showcase the talents listed among the cast, but no excuse is necessary for this collection of musical virtuosity. Songs:"Let's Meander Through the Meadow," "Show Me You Love Me" (S. Steuben, Roz Gordon), "Nobody Wants Me," "After Hours" (Gordon), "Disc Jockey," "In My Heart" (Herb Jeffries, Dick Hazard), "Peaceful Country," "Riders of the Purple Sage" (Foy Willing), "Brain Wave" (George Shearing), "Oh Look at Me Now" (John DeVries, Joe Bushkin), "The Roving Kind" (Jessie Cavanaugh, Arnold Stanton). leave a comment
