A musical showcase in which music director Bressart hires Vernon, a hot clarinetist, to compose a blues symphony for a new film. Vernon lets on that he can't read or write music--he just plays how he feels. Two musical arrangers, Noonan and Nazarro, are assigned the task of writing what he plays. The obstacle is that when his mood shifts, so does his music, so they must concoct a way to stabilize him. Musical selections include a performance by 11-year-old piano virtuoso Korbel of Grieg's Piano Concerto and Chopin's "Fantasie Impromptu." Also included are "I Saw You First," "Candlelight and Wine" (Harold Adamson, Jimmy McHugh), and "Cool Water" (Bob Nolan). leave a comment
