Barry Levinson's hilarious, often touching debut takes us back to the late-1950s Baltimore of the director's youth, brilliantly evoking that era through carefully drawn characters and a great soundtrack. Five pals (Steven Guttenberg, Daniel Stern, Timothy Daly, Kevin Bacon and Mickey Rourke) regularly meet at their favorite diner in between dealing with women, gambling, drinking and all the woes attendant on being twentysomethings in 1959.
