A story of a sympathetic government clerk, Spadaro, who is forced by his employer and his wife to join the Fascist party. After Mussolini's dictatorship falls, the Allied Military Government moves in and wrongly accuses Spadaro of being a devout Fascist. The direction is sporadic, but its impact is felt nonetheless.
