The title is the number to use when calling the sheriff's office in an emergency. Elliott is a lieutenant in the sheriff's department in charge of tracking down a disturbed ex-GI, Larsen, who has escaped from the mental ward and is looking for his wife, who has divorced him. Although the object of a manhunt, he is actually rational and coherent and just wishes to speak with his former bride. Unfortunately, she is murdered by her married lover, who is not happy to hear that she is bearing his child. Larsen is jailed for the murder, but he escapes, having figured out who the real killer is, and goes to get revenge. Luckily, Elliott has also surmised the identity of the murderer and arrives in time to stop Larsen from becoming a killer. leave a comment
