This uncompromising portrait of Marine training on Parris Island features "Dragnet" star Jack Webb as the tough DI (drill instructor) Jim Moore, who runs the would-be shock troops through one shock after another, from night hikes to barracks scrub-downs. Aside from a minor romance with an off-base cutie, Moore spends most of his time trying to make a man out of sniveling, whining Private Owens (Don Dubbins), who has joined up only to please his mother.
