Johns is a German scientist who escapes from a POW camp, murders an Australian doctor, and assumes his identity. This gives him access to a British laboratory so he can continue bacteriological experiments he started in Germany. The Nazis want to infect the British population with a deadly serum, and Johns plans to see it through. Pilbeam is a lab assistant who becomes his love interest.
