This fanciful comedy by Ingmar Bergman details the efforts of the Devil to stop the swelling in his eye by sending Don Juan (Jarl Kulle) to seduce Britt-Marie (Bibi Andersson), the 20-year-old virgin daughter of a kindly country pastor--because, as an old Irish proverb states, "a virgin is a sty in the Devil's eye."
