MGM teamed its top three juveniles in this pleasant comedy. Freddie Bartholomew is an upper-class English kid who winds up in a New York slum fighting for acceptance by Mickey Rooney and Jackie Cooper, who put him through a series of trials to test his mettle. The script is nothing
special, but between W.S. Van Dyke's direction and the efforts of the juvenile trinity, this is a winning little film.
