This standard-issue sexploitation film about horny attorneys and their briefs delivers the "obsession" promised by the lurid title is delivered, but the "deviant" part is just a come on. Curvaceous divorce attorney Joan Alton (Brick Randall) does whatever it takes to secure the best deal for her clients. Her bulldog attitude so impresses opposing counsel Ted Farrell (Everett J. Rodd) that he wants to sleep with her and persuade her to join his firm, not necessarily in that order. But Ted learns that his married partner, Mike Hathaway (John St. James), has already seduced Joan, who finds herself in a compromising position when Mike's wife, Evelyn (Gabriella Hall), is murdered. Detective Bert Kincaid (Jesse Coleman) pegs Mike for the number one suspect and Joan sets out to prove his innocence. On the night of Evelyn's murder, Mike bought drinks from a cocktail waitress at a strip club and picked up a bimbo, then he checked into a sleazy motel; Mike tells Joan to take depositions from the witnesses to his movements that night, and Ted encourages her to find them. Unfortunately, the Mike's mystery date has vanishes and both the desk clerk and the waitress deny having seen Mike. Despite a detour into Ted's bedroom, Joan is still devoted to Mike, but her investigation takes a turn for the worse when whoever paid out hush money to the three witnesses decide they're expendable and murders the clerk and the barmaid. Only Ted and Joan have the wherewithal to free Mike, and someone is determined to stop Joan's efforts on Mike's behalf. Can she track down his one-night stand before it's too late? Screenwriter Thomas K. Nash does little to disguise the fact that this plot is as old as the hills, and while the stars devote considerable effort to their soft-core sex scenes, they don't have the acting chops to make their characters the least bit interesting. leave a comment --Robert Pardi
