Set in the West at the turn of the century, the story focuses on Hudson, owner of a gambling den, and Baxter, his girl friend, who's addicted to making bets. The pair decide to go straight and head for a new town and a new lifestyle, taking Hudson's kid brother, Curtis, along. When they encounter the orphaned Wood, they decide to take her in as well.
