This adaptation of Alberto Moravia's The Inner Life features Marra as the fat, ugly-duckling daughter of glamourous, wealthy Sandrelli, who pays no attention whatsoever to her child. Tensions build between the two until, one night, Marra catches her mother in bed with Lowitsch and the maid.
