Set in North Africa during WW II, this picture has Mills, an alcoholic army officer, on a journey to Alexandria. Traveling in an ambulance, he brings with him a trio of passengers, nurses Syms and Clare and South African officer Quayle. Halfway through the film Clare is killed, the budding
romance between Syms and Mills is aborted, and Quayle turns out to be a German spy. There is sufficient tension, however, to keep one's eyes fixed on the screen until the end of the journey.
