Set in North Africa during WW II, this picture has Mills, an alcoholic army officer, on a journey to Alexandria. Traveling in an ambulance, he brings with him a trio of passengers, nurses Syms and Clare and South African officer Quayle. Halfway through the film Clare is killed, the budding romance between Syms and Mills is aborted, and Quayle turns out to be a German spy.
