Chandler stars as an Italian-born gangster who is deported back to Italy after serving a five-year jail sentence for stealing $100,000 which was never recovered. Because the feds still want to find the loot, they keep Chandler under surveillance overseas. He becomes a local hero as he lavishes kind deeds upon the villagers. He begins romancing widowed Italian countess Toren, whom he uses as a funnel to bring his loot to the home country. He does this by using Toren's charitable efforts to bring foodstuffs to the poor of Italy, and has his hoodlums in America buy up $100,000 worth of food and ship it to Italy, where he will sell it on the black market and recoup his investment. He aborts the plan, however, when he actually does fall in love with the countess, but it is too late. The cops grab him, though there is an indication that they will be lenient this time.
