Anthony Richmond makes his directorial debut in this British fantasy. Writer Nigel Terry, seeking to pen a screenplay about a famed 1930s ballerina, Jaclyn Smith (Richmond's wife), is driven by a feeling that in another life he knew the woman, who died in an unexplained fiery fashion. As
he researches his work, strange events occur. Fires break out, letters that seem to be 50 years old suddenly appear, voices are heard, and the behavior of his girl friend (Smith in a dual role) takes on an eerie edge. Fantasies about loves across the years have been done before and done better.
Smith does a poor job of making each of her two characters unique.
