1957, Movie, NR, 76 mins

This loose adaptation of James Fenimore Cooper's novel is better than Lew Lander's ridiculously incompetent 1943 version--but not by much. Barker, a white scout raised by Mohicans, aids a family of settlers against a tribe of warring Indians. Barker gets involved with old trader Flippen and his two lovely daughters, Moreno and O'Donnell, when he saves them from an attack by the warring Huron tribe. Flippen hates Indians because they scalped his wife years ago; he has been getting his revenge by scalping any Indian he meets. The Indians, in turn, are just trying to retrieve the scalps of their dead so their souls can rest in peace. leave a comment
