Shot on location in Maine, DEEP WATERS concerns a lobster fisherman, Andrews, whose life is changed when his girl friend, Peters (who works for the state welfare office), forces him to act as a role model for a troubled orphan boy (Stockwell). The boy had been placed in a foster home,
but he got into trouble when he was caught stealing. Andrews befriends the boy, and with the help of fellow fisherman Romero, turns the kid into a responsible citizen. Fairly maudlin premise made somewhat interesting by excellent photography of Maine exteriors.
