The first of seven teamings of oater stars Brown and Ritter has Brown returning home to Texas after the Civil War to discover that rascals in his home state have set themselves up as a separate government expressly for the purpose of illegal land-grabbing. The hardest part for Brown to
accept is that the leader of the unscrupulous crooks is his father, Farnum. With the help of government agent Ritter, Brown gets Texas back into the union. In addition to the title song by Don Swander and June Hershey, songs include "Song of the Sage," "Johnny Bond," "Sweet Genevieve," "Dixie,"
and "Cowboy's Lament."
