Tongue-in-cheek humor is sometimes used to hide a dearth of ideas. That's exactly the case with this threadbare sword-and-sorcery spoof that finds its warrior hero (John Terlesky) trying to aid Evie (Monique Gabrielle), a peasant girl who turns out to be a princess. Evie has been exiled from her kingdom by the villainous wizard Jerak (John LaZar) and Queen Sultana (Toni Naples). Jerak and Sultana create an evil clone of Evie (also played by Gabrielle), with whom they plan to rule the kingdom. The genre-parody angle taken by the moviemakers seems to have been arrived at by sheer accident. As it stands, DEATHSTALKER II offers neither thrills nor amusement, since the cast don't have the comic timing to pull off the deadpan, Zucker brothers-style humor. Director Jim Wynorski pads the film even further with a passel of unamusing outtakes run under the end credits. The film was shot in Argentina.(Nudity, violence.) leave a comment
