Two Deaths

An intriguing failure from eccentric British director Nicolas Roeg (DON'T LOOK NOW). In an unnamed Eastern European country (apparently Romania), three middle-aged school friends (Patrick Malahide, Ion Caramitru, Nickolas Grace) gather for a lavish dinner party given annually by mysterious Dr. Daniel Pavenic (Michael Gambon). Their nostalgic reminiscences, punctuated with sordid disclosures about their present lives, are interrupted occasionally by the bloody civil strife that rages outside Pavenic's opulent mansion.
